Car and Driver... y'know, the magazine that thinks everything BMW makes is gold (sorry Ben)... got it's hands on spy shots of the new 2010 Mazda 3. If it actually makes it to market sporting those looks, there might have to be another one in the driveway.

Pretty. As far as Mazda goes, I'm a big fan of their 3, but give me an RX-8. I want one of those more than anything, and I can't stand driving imports..never have!

!MikeLewis - RX-8 suck oil like a cheap hooker. The apex seals on the rotors of the engine wear and you get blow-by. It's why no other manufacturer really messes with rotaries. NSU sold the Wankel design for that reason to Mazda. They have gotten better but it's still a big problem.

And most 'imports' are built in America. Odd but true.

!CommanderTim - I love the German machinery but BMWs have gotten too complex for their own good. And heavy. I hate heavy cars.

!CommanderTim I think it looks nicer than the current generation.

!DownByLaw Yeah Ben, I heard that about the rotary mazdas. If I remember correctly, they are a little weak on low end torque too.

It's so true, a lot of "imports" are built in the US. The high percentage of foreign parts still qualifies it as an import.

!herbg - Totally, but the current one is kind of gross... it had all the soul sucked out of it by bean counters. The first-gen model (which !blogkitten drives) is so much nicer.

The Wankel engines get horrible mileage too, and yeah, the torque sucks. However, they love to rev. Shifting at 10k isn't too unusual.
