Wouldn't the health department come down on this?
And heaven forbid if you re-heated it. Why its a health risk.

I suppose that's why I never see Pease Porridge on any menu.

    Wasn't that written well before health departments existed? Or before we really knew that much about sanitation.

    Oh most certainly it was before health departments. But sanitation, no... the jews had two whole books in the bible about food safety.

    But it still explains how this dish is not on any menu around the english speaking world. It wouldn't pass. So it doesn't burst it, just bends it some.
