I agree, also.

Ditto.

Yep, I've been thinking the same thing!

I agree as well, but you can see users full names if you are friends with them and select them from the drop down. I think you should have the option to go by your username, or full name.

o rly, Mr. McKimmey?

I agree with Jacob, if I want to simply identify myself as "bluescientist" I should be able to do so. Currently you have to put something in both the first and last name fields. I suppose I could be Scientist, Blue. but what if my user name was Pownce, am I expected to enter Nce, Pow

They can just put the first letter of their last name in their profile.
-
I agree with Jacob as well, We should have a choice. Full name, abbreviated name, or user name. But remember, Pownce is still under development. I'm sure there are going to be new resources. I am using the AIR download, but really would prefer SMS and a firefox plug in.

+1. Rather annoying not being able to figure out which Chris you want to know more about if the last name is not part of the ID. Choice is just perfect, whether people would want to use their nicks, last name or first name, but something in between is not very user friendly, is it?
-
good catch! tru dat...

The first thing when I noticed this I though it is a privacy setting and searched for it. But I agree it eventually should be one. I also don't care, actually wish for my name to be visible.

You read my mind...

Or you can just use a fake name like me! :)
-
agree with Mimi. Now, which fake name do I want to use for Pownce so I can keep up with myself? :D :D

I think the option should be available as well. If we don't want our last names shown, we could always just change the last name in the options though.
-
I'd like the nickname to show instead of my name.
Mainly just because there are a lot of Mike D's.

If you hover over the photos from friends of friends you are also able to read the full names... I don't really mind about that, but it is not consequent and it makes not much sense to handle it in different ways as it is now...
-
I guarantee that this is all done for SEO reasons... intentionally.

Yeah, pretty strange.

It's very inconsistent. On this page, I see "Note From DidYouLoseASock." Oh, Pownce. ;)
-
Choice would be excellent. Most people know me by Vasta and not my first name, so I was quite annoyed when they only listed my first name and last initial.

okay, yeah. i thought it was only you that could see your real name, but i just viewed someone's profile and i was able to see their last name.
-
I'd rather see my last name...
-
I'd rather see my username in both places, not my real name.
-
i just used a full stop for my last name.
-
Yup, what Harmia K. said.
-
You're right; that is odd.

You're right; that is odd.
-
its just because they don't want the public to be able to see your full name
-
Heck, I'd settle for Pownce recognizing hyphens and not giving me just one last initial. (Well, I wouldn't, really. I don't like the last name showing at all.)
-
It looks like they fixed this. Hurray!

As Julie pointed out, it is now fixed. Some one heard our message! Thank you to every one for the replies because I really appreciated every ones views on the subject. I wonder if any of the Pownce developers actually saw this message and then decided to fix it or if they were working on it anyway?
-
Hi TJ M, I noticed that right off the bat, thus I've entered TheTechMonkey as my first name and a "." as my last name, as the name is displayed as Firstname followed by a couple periods....ie: TheTechMonkey ..... :)
-
i didn't even notice that. lol
