Nice overview. I think the main difference between Pownce and Twitter is the level of conversation. When you post something on Pownce you can expect thoughtful replies. Twitter on the other hand is good for short exclamations to which you expect no replies.
I like (and use) them both, but if Pownce had a bigger user base I probably wouldn't use Twitter at all.

(also posted on your blog) Great points. People are always trying to compare Twitter and Pownce as though they are two versions of the same thing and one should choose one over the other. But as you’ve discovered, that’s not the case at all. They’re very different animals. I too use both. I’m more active on Pownce because I like having conversations, but I get value from Twitter too.

Also I think you need both to connect with a wider audience. There is no one solution that works for everyone so if you want to reach more people you need to go where they are.
