    I personally like how slicehost sends you a root account password right off the bat, when you sign up for a site.

    Yeah, I did consider limiting the rule to "user-chosen password" to also allow for password reset emails, but it just seems like there are other, better ways to go about all of those. Like having the user specify a password, either upon account creation in your case, or upon clicking the verification link for password resets.
