I keep saying that I'm done shopping at Gamestop(po) but for some reason I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt. Little did I realize that other than big box stores they're all that's left for video games. I tried to go in to what was a Gameforce and/or Rhino Games (smaller used game merchants in my area) only to realize they'd been bought out and it was yet another Gamestop.
To make matters worse they rarely ever even have the games that are the reason I go in to them. This time, I had a urge to pick up a new golf game for the PSP. I wasn't trying to go odd, just wanted the good old standby of some Tiger Woods on the system. Big name game right? Well they didn't have it. Actually they didn't even have it for the 360. I checked their website when I got home and it's not even listed for sale for the PSP at all. So, I jumped on Amazon and ordered it.
Boo Gamestop. Why should anyone bother shopping with you?

I'm actually a fan of stopping at Target before I hit Gamestop of Best Buy. They oftentimes have an end cap of new games they're trying to get rid of for half price. I scored Puzzle Quest for DS for $15 and that was new. I'd have to get it used at GS for $25.
Just my $0.02.

you almost have to because like you said, they're all that's out there. the little guys shut down or get eaten up.
I just do gamefly and rent everything now. then if I like it, I buy it somewhere else.

For a chain of stores owned by Barnes and Noble Gamestop has nothing of a selection to pick from and they are always to high on the price of their used games. I am not going to pay $45 dollars for a used copy of a 6month old game. I do like JP said and hit up my local target, or Toys R Us which often time has some great deals on games.

I usually just suck it up and head to Best Buy. I can't stand going into Gamestop and getting hit with the sales pitch to pre-order other games. The salespeople often act like Randall in "Clerks" and tell me that every game I'm interested in sucks and that I should buy something else.

@Kyle Amen to that. I had that happen in a big way when I was buying Conan. Guy kept saying, "Dude, it's a God of War ripoff" and I was like, "I know, I just love hack n slash and this is about the best the 360 has to offer." Why would you try to talk someone out of buying a game? I appreciate it if the game is just absolutely horrible but don't overdo it. I knew what I was getting in to and didn't need to be berated. And yeah the whole pre-order racket is my primary reason for hating them.
