Focus on the inter-personal relationships and the rest will follow.
whenever you have a conversation with a co-worker or manager about work, try and start with something, anything person .... picture on the desk, ask "is that Italy, what was that like?"... cat calendar... "do you have cats?

Then be a good, active listener.... everyone loves someone who is interested in them... and the converse is true as well, people are put off by folks who only talk about themselves.

I duno what its worth, but I've found that focusing on people, more than that job, really makes it everything else fall into place.
