Reagan administration argued broadcasters have the right to put on what they want, when they wanted (free of government guidelines). In '87, the FCC stated it would NOT enforce the Fairness Doctrine. And Congress stepped in and reinstated it in September Only to quickly did our Reagan promptly vetoed it! There has been no Fairness Doctrine since.
Today, the freedom of many hang in the balance as the debate marches on.

As far as I last new, 113 Democrats in the House voted for a 1year moratorium on the return of the Fairness Doctrine have yet to sign on to the Discharge Petition. Not one.
