This is sooo geeky but i really love the data visualization of the contact network at MIT - Who've guessed a faculty list could be so pretty! K sleepy time :)

    It's very cool, and not entirely geeky! When I was in the Planning and Landscape Architecture school at the University of Wisconsin, I came across a tremendous resource that showed my a new world of possibility as far as the visual display of information! It's been out for nearly 30 years, but I highly recommend it to anyway who wants to move beyond conventional charts and graphs. I'm sure the later editions have capitalized on new alternatives relating to interactive media, and the author, Edward Tufte, has several companion books that further expand the scope. In other words, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK:

    Wow! thanks Dan that's aweeesome stuff! I think the thing that the world of pretty data vis will need to tackle at some point is combining functionality with this kind of space, because fundamentally people will always go for the fastest easiest option and a lot of this is just kick ass graphics at the moment, but hopefully that's the future of this kind of research. love the 'arrange by contact groups' visualization though, that's brilliant to see live, and v. useful for a project I'm working on :)
