I am worried, because people like Obama.

It is easy to get swept up into "Obamania" or the Obama Cult. I must admit to it myself. He has such beautiful, poetic, spiritual and uplifting words that are carried along by a strong voice, reminiscent of MLK. It's easy to get drunk off the amount of optimism he secretes from every thread of his being.

Yet, I am worried. The general populace seems to like Obama, and when I say "like", I truly mean love. People really want to see him get into office. But like any cult or rabid fanbase, they are fickle and quick to change. We could be praising him one minute, and hating him the next. All it takes is a single miss-step, one little fault for it to be exploited, to grow to gargantuan sizes through the catalyst that is the media.

Now you might say, "but this is the case with every candidate". Ah yes, this is true, the trouble is Obama is putting our hopes up. (DAMN YOU OPTIMISM) We are less likely to be disappointed if we expected failure, on some level. Yet with Obama, we come to expect great things. We expect him to fix the very nature of things, to cure this ailed nation, to mend relationships, and to unite the people. We expect him to be a messiah, who has come down from the heavens in a radiant light while the angels trumpet their tune to his immortal words, and with a mere raising of his benevolent hand, will eradicate the bush regime that his plagued this land. Obama is not a god. It is unrealistic to think that he will solve any & every possible problem, or that the general populace will always be satisfied with the solutions he comes up with.

What I am trying to say is simple. Obama-Freaks, quit drinking the damned kool-aid and look at reality for a second. Indeed, Obama is something different then what we are used to, and yes, he is in my opinion (and many others) the best possible candidate. But damn, the reality distortion field around him is becoming ridiculous. I mean, the only way it could get any worse was if Steve Jobs ran for president.
