So... I am invited to the Global Young Leaders Conference 2008, which will take place in Europe and the USA. Supposedly I was chosen as a highly promising scholar to represent Mexico. Should I go? It is quite expensive (around $4000) for a 13-day trip. Among their past speakers, there is Kofi Annan, so I do not know. Might this be worth it?

you get no help whatsoever on the price?
seems like there'd be a "scholarship" kind of thing involved.
    - i'd research it. carefully. (the cost makes me suspicious, but i'm a cynic). it could be a woderful experience.

that sounds like an amazing opportunity, $4000 is a lot, but you could probably do a fundraiser to get some help

I don't know. I think you should save that money for Texas A & M. Tuition costs around 4,500. If you have enough money (To pay for fours years of tuition, living expense, rent, etc), do it.

save the dough and watch his speech on youtube; seriously, they shouldn't charge you so much

Yeah, after speaking to my parents, and some teachers, I decided not to go. There are TED Talks, you know. And well, money is not to be spared either. So, yeah. I would've loved to put it on my resumé though hehe.
