Does Vienna allow you to save old items for a long time? Or does it only pull down what's currently on the server? That was my reason for using NNW - it saves old items for arbitrary time.

There is a preference which says "Move articles to Trash after" and then a drop down with time values, but honestly I am not so sure how this works. I've never really use my news reader to save old items.

Also I should have noted that I have been using NNW Light, not the Pro version. I've also tried NewsFire, PulpReader and bunch of others.

Yeah, I tried everything that was available about two years ago, and back then, NNW was the only one that had the option of saving old items. So I got a license. However, my copy of NNW recently announced to me that it was a "demo has expired", with a date of expiry of last August (!); I emailed Newsgator (who distribute NNW and bundle their online services with it) on Sunday and had no response. So they're losing me as a customer.
