WHEW!! Finally fixed my G5--my memory was bad! Now to reinstall EVERYTHING! DOH!

    Did memory go bad or did you install bad memory? Didn't think memory ever went bad if you didn't mess with it.

    It was memory that had been in the machine for a couple of years. I didn't think memory went bad either which is why I wiped the disk and tried to reinstall. But after installation failed multiple times I started looking around and it turns out the error I was getting was related to bad ram. Once I replaced the ram it worked fine so maybe ram can go bad after a time.

    Wow, I'm in similar position with my G5. Just replaced HD. Did you diagnose with Tech Tools Pro?
