" Tired of paying through the nose, Americans try praying at the pump"

Umm....I don't think that's going to work.

It can't really help either, so basically it's like doing nothing. The people who have the power to stop this are the Government and they're doing nothing but talking about an 18 cent relief for three months when gas goes up 9 and 10 cents a WEEK!

    Well...its just stupid.

    [soapbox]

Whatever the case - the cracks in the foundation of America's "I want everything NOW" house is starting to crumble.

I bought a house I could afford. I bought a car that got good gas mileage (and after buying it in December 2005, I just broke 20,000 miles - and that included a road trip out to the east coast!). I don't buy everything I want because it's not smart to do so. I ride the bus to work and I'm not really feeling the crunch right now because I had a bit of responsibility. I'm not looking to someone else to "fix it".

!SaturdayLuka - I know! Obama's the only one saying that this "tax vacation" won't make a difference - and he's right. All it will do is create more problems down the road when the money that should've been generated with those taxes won't be there, then the government will try to find yet another "fix quick" scheme to fix this immediate problem rather than look long-term.

This is America, it's not up to the government to fix our problems. It is up to us, the people to fix our own problems.

I got tired of complaining a while ago, when it became apparent that high gas prices (or relatively high compared to what we have known over most of the last century) were going to be a way of life for the foreseeable future. With this in mind I've taken the following actions:

    A) Got a motorcycle capable of 70 mpg

    B) My truck is a 2.7L four cylinder that gets 20+ mpg. It has four wheel drive and it meets all of my needs.

    C) I live about a mile from work and and fully capable of walking that distance in a short time.

The actions have considerably cut my gas consumption while raising the quality of my life

    What have you done?
