I was going to do a QOTD, but there won't be much of a response today to it since I've been having so many problems connecting - and I know I'm not the only one.

    and today i found pownce to be on its toes!!! quite thrilled to see a spiffing recovery!! :)

    I'm actually gettign tired of discussing it. I love Pownce but all we seem to do is get frustrated by the problems. We'll have a few days tops of good performance then it goes to crap again.

    With that said, the first ship jumpers who are being vocal about it are starting to show up on my friends list.

    See it's weird. This morning I was having a heck of a time and this afternoon I've gotten on with no problems.

    I am curious to know what the problems are this time.

    I'm just about done with Pownce. I like the featureset, and I loved the community - but most of my friends have already bailed and at this point it works so erratically that I hardly ever even bother trying to load it up.

    i am going crazy clicking on links on pownce just waiting to see a WSOD... not one!!!! where are those rats who jumped??? they need to see pownce NOW!! :)

    I can only go back 1 or 2 pages before I get the WSOD. I'm reading about people leaving from other sources. :-/

    I get the White Screen of Hell 6 times out of ten.

    Nothing we say will change their minds. They just don't really care in the end.

    Rose is on Twitter more than his OWN platform, like having Ben from Ben and Jerry's eating Bryers.

    Everyone else is on the standard CSR line of "we understand your concerns and we are working hard to blah blah blah..."

    I'd like to know who's name is on their checks so I can write that person!

    My pic remain dark like Pownce's future until we get a straight answer! If they need more help I am sure there is a dozen progs here on Pownce that would throw in for free! Its good resume fodder!

    I'm watching top on our web and database servers right now. We're getting a lot of traffic, but it all looks legitimate. I haven't had a chance to look into very much since I've been working on a fix for the "disappearing notes" stuff. That's just about done and I'll probably push it in an hour or so after a bit more testing. Blah.

    Oh, and Kevin usually signs our checks !Cursor_.

    I almost posted something this morning to comment on how odd it was that I hadn't been able to connect for 4 hours straight this morning, but figured, "you know what? The Pownce gang knows. Users know. Why pile on?"

    Since about 10am it's been fine. A white screen here and there, but not like this morning.

    At this point, I'm still planning to renew my Pro membership... ;)

    Over on "Twitter", the service I re-pownce to, overnight I lost 90% of the folks I follow and 50% of the people following me. I've no idea if they're automagically coming back or if they expect me to "remember" myself and start over.

    That ain't happening.

    So a white screen here and there on Pownce is fine with me.

    WPOD have been happening for many months along w/ that pownce is slow loading (just compare it to say plurk) which for all the information it loads is blazing fast... often times within pownce the fonts appear distorted under FF2-3/XP/Vista, usually within recent replies you make.. I guess there is an error in rendering the replies/notes properly now and again.

    Point is, these issues have been going on for an unacceptable amount of time, especally for those who have purchased Pro accounts and I think its time to buckle down or bail out

    Do not get me started. I will talk until I'm blue in the face, and then some. If people thought I was bitchy before, it's worse now. I am not impressed by them "speaking up," and I'm not going to apologize for anything I have said (or will continue to say).

    I barely try to get to this site anymore, I don't have the time to waste with it. I Paid for a Pro account here cause I wanted to support a site that ROCKED....but now its just plain sucks...I don't pay for Plurk or Twitter and I don't see ads anywhere on there site and they seem to being doing fine, I am sure Twitter is getting more traffic than Pownce, and we may see the Fail Whale once in a while but its not nearly as often as Pownce failing.

    The complaining on Pownce bubbles-up from time-to-time, and I admit that I'm one to ignite some of it. The community needs to know that this application with its small staff is using the community for Q/A Q/C {Quality Assurance + Quality Control}. Many companies invest in having this done either in-house, or outsourcing it. It's not to say that Pownce doesn't test code, but this is a complex application. Because Pownce has taken-on this agile development approach of bypassing traditional testing, then there should be a level of understanding that the members will complain. It's clear that Pownce admins get that, as they deal with our constant gripes, but other members may not get it. It should also be stated that when members complain, they're usually not just out there to bash the system, they're actually VERY PASSIONATE about making this thing work.

    The GetSatisfaction forums should help with some of that, but it's easier for us to talk amongst ourselves.
