the air client flashes too much. distracting. same occurs when you press the "Refresh" button at bottom. and even when the timer goes off, the button at bottom changes from Refresh to Refreshing, as if you clicked it, but you didn't... which is also visually distracting, so keeping the pownce client open is kinda annoying. kinda sad that it needs to poll, though, and can't just do server-push or something so new stuff shows up immediately, with no polling at all. or fix polling to at least return a 304 Not Modified and then have the air client not update the big middle section on 304... only if new content, in which case the flashing would be tolerable and kinda useful (hey, new stuff!) end ramble.

I like the idea of using the window itself as a way of notification...

Wouldn't it be better to integrate a system notification... like growl on a Mac or the system tray notification in windows... it'd be much better for message notifications than email.

    Yeah, Growl would be nice.

I think we might be able to support Growl, but system notifications aren't quite built-out yet in AIR.

What about making a custom AIR notification. like a pretty popup window with a (let's say) growl style look to it... that appears on top of stuff. So, basically a custom made growl notifcation :)
