Geraldine Ferraro is being rightfully lambasted for asking a very good question about Barack Obama in a poor way. The way she phrased the question was all wrong, but I think perhaps it is a valid question.

Do you think Barack Obama's message would be receiving the same support if he were white?

In my mind, I am not sure. I do think his being black effects how I perceive his message, perhaps giving it more weight. But then I admit that I am very suspect of all politicians, and since most of them are white (like me) I naturally assume they are not being truthful. I want someone who seems to be coming from the real world like me, and Obama still has a bit of that quality about him.

Any other thoughts?
