This is f***ing crazy.

So my friend was telling me about her experience at the 3-month-long national service programme she participated in last year. Apparently, when she was there, and at that-time-of-the-month, all the girls (regardless of whether they're Muslim or not) have to wash their sanitary pads before they throw them away.

The trainer will actually check to see whether their sanitary pads are clean. If they're not, it's punishment in the form of soaking their unwashed sanitary pad in water, and splashing the water on their face.

Freaking ridiculous.

And btw i'm leaving for national service in June.

So gross, right? I mean, i respect their religion and all, but do they really have to force what they practice on others as well?

could be better for environment?, like one of those washable babies nappies.

    Yuck tho... ;)

I'm assuming the washable nappies are re-usable? Who the hell re-uses sanitary pads?

Yuck, I could never live like that.

    What country is this?
  • Victor E. Victor E. replied Jan 29th
@Libby: At least it's only for 3 months.

@Tad: The national service programme only started in M'sia a couple of years ago.

I don't know whether this happened in other camp sites, but it did happened where my friend attended.

That is sadistic and unhealthy beyond belief.
  • Tad D. Tad D. replied Jan 29th
@Ben - oh it's not beyond belief. I can think of much more humiliating things. It certainly wouldn't fly in a western country though... At least I'd hope not!
