How long do you leave your computer on? Is it on for 24 hours and goes to sleep at night or do you have the habit of turning your computer on when you need it and off when you don't need it?

I tend to turn the computer on and off. I do it with TVs and other appliances so I do that with my computer. Aside from wasting energy the heat gradually wears the components down. It's 100x worse with a laptop which is practically why you have to buy a new laptop every 2-3 years whereas a desktop can be in good shape for a decade.
