Is it worth it to get the new iPhone 3G if my city doesn't have 3G yet?

I think it depends on how much you want the true GPS, because thats the only other real harware change.

well also internet speeds, or is edge really better than people make it out to be?

If you don't have 3G in your city then you'll only be able to get faster internet when you are in other cities. I'm kind of in the same situation, my area has no 3G so I wouldn't really benefit from the added hardware in the phone, except for the GPS, which is very cool.
