Well, I don't think !leahculver or !mmalone will love me for this, but - I think you all deserve to know anyway.

You can hack Pownce's view count. Here's a video, with an incorrect view count, to show you how.

it's a style problem, the video is inside a span inside a div which is larger than the actual video embed. The span was put there to capture views when the flash player was clicked.
The simple solution would be to decrease the size of the div.
They could also used javascript to track the play function on the viddler player.

Jon: They could. But they have other players to deal with too. But yes, it is a wrapping "problem"

    Kyle: Don't be nit-picky!

    Michael: Gee thanks.

    Michael Owens: Indeed.

Yeah, I did that a little while ago.

Doesn't always work, but it's a cool little trick.

I'm biting my tongue... I guess all I'll say is that, as a programmer, I'm disappointed that the best "automated" solution anyone has come up with is using OS X Automator...

Not that I'm encouraging/condoning any other sort of automation here... and not that there's any point to it :P.
  • Kyle B. replied Apr 22nd
Ive automated it with jquery but have to fix one more bug.
  • Kyle B. replied Apr 22nd
Got it, stupid work distracted me though.
  • Colin D. replied Apr 22nd
    Michael: I too was surprised.

Kyle: How does it work? How high can we jack up this number?

We're getting close to 10,000, but sadly unless Kyle comes through with his automator, I don't think we're ever going to get near Pownce's limit. :-) Thanks to all for the clicks!

I just noticed this note, very interesting. On OS X you could also use an applications like Charles and set up a repeat action any number of times to "re-click" the link since they don't limit by anything really.. kind of odd.
