Back in 1999 I used to work at VoiceStream which was bought by DT and then became T-Mobile. In 1999 there was an internal website that you could put in any VoiceStream phone number and then select any midi ringtone and it would sms it to that persons phone. This was before US carriers found out they could make a killing on ringtone sales.

So I would go through my phonebook and send cool ringtones to all my friends. That was back when *everyone* had a Nokia 5190. After a few months the gravytrain ended but all you can eat midi ringtones was very fun while it lasted.
