Attempt #2.

This is a test of the new public file feature in Pownce. I've attached a file to this message, an MP3 of me singing Gary Indiana, recorded on Tuesday night when it seemed that Obama might win the Indiana primary, thanks to voters in Gary. The file is 550KB, much smaller than the maximum of 250MB.

If the experiment works, anyone should be able to download it, whether or not they are following me on Pownce, or if they are even a member of Pownce.

Sorry to say that I can't download the file when I'm not logged in. I can play the file and hear you sing :) but not download it. I need to be logged in to do that...

Not only does it work in Firefox, but it allows me to login, which I couldn't previously accomplish in Firefox due to a "please enable cookies" error message on each login attempt. Which is why I'm not using Pownce (other than this post) until they fix it.

You can download the file without being logged in at the above URL.

@adrian - sorry but I can't. The URL is dead... And where do I find this URL in the first place if you had not posted it? I still haven't found a way to download it if you're not logged in. Hear it - no problem. Download ... no go. If you're not signed in that is...

!DieLaughing I get that same error, though it didn't happen this time. Wonder if they've finally fixed it...

As for the download, when I click it I get a 404. But that may be due to a bad URL:
http://pownce.com/downloa...
(note the slash at the end)

That seems like a Pownce bug.

!quepol & !christianbogh all links to the file in this post seem to be dead now, even the player gives me an error :(
• adrian c. replied 4 days ago
!christianbogh I constructed the URL from the flash player code: audioplayer('/download/local/2753383/'
in the page source. It's visible even when not logged in. Has to be for the flash player to work when not logged in.

I get the same error even when I'm logged-in. I also get a 404 when I try to download it. :(

Yes it stopped working. I posted a note on scripting.com. In the meantime, if you want to hear the song, here's a link to it on my server. Enjoy!
