PTotD: Do you go to the movies alone?
I like doing things alone - having dinner out, going to the movies, whatever. One thing I've noticed though is that there are an awful lot of people -- seemingly the great majority of people -- who have never been to the movies alone. Are movies inherantly social activities? I've never thought so - it's not like you're supposed to talk to other during the movie.
What about you? Ever see a movie on your own? Why / why not?

I would say it's a social act to go see a movie in the theater. I have no idea why, It's just been that way since I was a kid.
I'll see a movie on my own. I saw 300 on my own. I'd like to go with someone else to share the experience together, But I have no problems going by myself (If a friend doesn't want to go or can't go for some reason) if I truly believe the movie is one to see in the theater.

I don't go to movies anymore, because I'm old and cheap, but I have gone by myself. I hate sitting by someone, hearing them chomp in my ear and sloshing their ice back and forth.
Reason #489 I am single. Mystery solved.

I don't mind going to movies alone so that I get to pick what to see, but I feel a little strange going out to eat alone.

Usually I go with my wife and/or kids but occasionally I do go alone and it doesn't bother me.

I've only been to the cinema ones or twice alone, but that might be because I prefer watching films at home where I'm 99% sure it will be quiet. I hate it when people talk during a film. I see it as talking when someone is trying to read a book. Just rude.
So I watch a lot of films at home alone sometimes. Really don't mind it. And I can then watch it whenever I want. Lovely.

I've never been to the movies alone...but it would bother me (going alone.) I don't really know why though.

Oh I absolutely hate going to the movies with other people. My girlfriend and my best friend are the only exceptions and that's because I'll have someone immediately available to discuss with afterwards, but man, I'm going to the theater for me, to watch a movie, not to have anyone talk at me or anything else. You ruin my movie watching and I'll end you :p

Looks like people here tend to watch movies at theaters alone more than people I've talked to face-to-face about it. Is this some kind of evidence of the skewed sample of people online / on social networking / on Pownce?
