I find it very relaxing when I drive on desolate country roads. A great way to clear my head. I miss the days of $1/gal gasoline.

I started driving on the back country roads of Wisconsin when I was 14... er, maybe 12... anyway, I remember "tooling around" (as we used to say) and going for mile after mile without seeing another car. Gas was about 30-35 cents a gallon then, which was a good things since most cars got 10 mpg. Of course, now I realize that gravelly country roads are probably the most dangerous to learn on, because a think patch of gravel or a sudden rut can send you into the ditch in an instant, and you'll most likely be upside down when you stop flipping over. Nevertheless, those were good times.
