Pro!

Far too often I see "to" used in place of "too". So a quick review:

too = in addition, besides / a higher degree than desired

to = moving toward / a direction / concerning / identifying a relationship to something or attachment

Correct: "He has too much time on his hands" OR "I would like to do that too" OR "Could you give this to him" OR "It's about 30 miles to where the spaceship crash-landed"

Incorrect: "That's to scary for me" OR "To many birds to count! Ack, the birds! The biiiiiiiirrrrdds! *gurgling*"

I've started a "better English" trend! YAY!!

The "to" and "too" misuse also bugs me. I'm going to post later about the proper use of their, there and they're and soon to be followed up with "ensure" vs. "assure"

!creativecomponent - bad spelling is not the same as using the wrong word. At least you're conscious of it. Also, spell check is your friend!

I always misspell "insurance"...it's always typed out as "insruance" then I go back and correct. I even made a custom word correction in Word to fix that particular error. :-D

!creativecomponent - Agreed. Bad spelink iz won thin. A slip of the finger. I'm a victim of a few words I commonly misspell as well. I think I've even Pownced about it here many, many moons ago. And then, of course, there's the "rush" factor of getting a comment or message online quickly in between phone calls at work. :)

I simply read too many comments with "to" in place of "too" today.

!blogkitten - Can't wait! Both biggies! Ensure vs Assure can be tricky... but there are a couple simple rules to help remember.

And how on earth I was ever supposed to remember this rule
    i before e, except after c
    or when sounded like a
    as in neighbour and weigh
drop this rule when -c sounds as -sh
Then words such as ancient, efficient and species become covered by this rule.

I love English but there are times I hate it also.
