will do, I've wiped the HD and now am installing ubuntu from the disk I burned. So far, so good... but I have an ati video card and a netgear USB wireless adapter that I'm a little nervous about!

I've never had any problems with it (maybe 4-5 boxes so far?). Can be bad with new gear, though. Debian can be dismally behind the power curve.

well, no problems to speak of ( I finished hours ago but had errands...) except for the drivers for the wifi. I'm going to try and run ndiswrapper and use the windows drivers as there are none for my device. :(
