I should have known it wasn’t going to go smoothly. I come home and my 7 year old daughter came up to me and in a most serious voice told me “Aliens are real” and continued on with their various physical attributes and what they eat; with that she left, but that was not the end of it.

About an hour later I realized things did not go well. The rest of the night was spent telling her aliens weren’t real, like spongebob squarepants. Aliens were like an adult spongebob, they don’t really exist. It went O.K. Through out the night.

Meeting with 10 year old son. Explaining that not everything he watches is suitable for her. Wants to argue on how it happened; ‘it wasn’t his fault’. Doesn’t like the solution of only things suitable for her are acceptable for him. Explain that Dad watches stuff not suitable for him, as does older brother or older sister. Explain that cable is an experiment and can be removed very easily. Sees it my way.

Whew, Kids! Toughest job you will ever love.
