Its a pretty smart move by Adobe. Remember they are a much smaller company than Sun and if they want to take Flash to all the devices, it would take them forever. This way they let other companies build Flash Players for their devices. On the web, I dont think there is anyone who will really challenge the Flash player, although I would love to see the JVM understand and play nice with SWF as well ;)
