Public Notes

  • Public Officially looking for work. Leaving iENT, doing contract work for them until August, then, I'm on my own. Scary.... but kind of exhilarating. If anyone needs an Art Director???? :-)

For now I have a couple of head-hunters working for me. Never gone that route before. If anyone has, and can give advice on dealing with them. I could use it.

  • Public Beta testing is the suck. Had a post up here griping about the wrong people. It's not the players, it's the QA... or rather the total lack of such a department. It seems MOST companies do that first when downsizing. My company hasn't had QA in 8 years. Ugh.

  • Public I wasn't sure until now, I should have been but I wasn't. Kevin Rose is gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But he should come out of the closet. It would make him feel better and he could stop living a lie.
    The Evidence:
Lives in San Francisco (I know, straight people live there too. But really, how many?)
Has an immaculate, well furnished house ...

  • Public Got finished with version 2.6 of the PlainJain iphone themes this week. Heading to Vermont to take the kids snowboarding in the morning. Fun fun. Still have headlines waying heavily upon me. But should be able to get most of my work done on the road.

  • Public On a related note to my last post (sort of), Kevin and Alex assist a girl from the Northeast in breaking up with her boyfriend ON diggnation. It's the last thing in the show so skip ahead unless you want to hear about Alex's deep-seated obsession with Judge Judy. I think they realized how incredibly horrible the idea was halfway through doing it, but by then it was ...

  • Public This is just creepy enough to scare me, but cool enough to make me think of a lot of possible applications.

  • Public In Houston for a couple days. Listening to TWIT.... man, Kindle is getting a ton of free advertising... for a device I wouldn't buy on a dare. Weird. But every tech podcast I listen to has spent at least 10 minutes on it.

  • Public Quoted from Meta-Filter: Randy Pausch is a pioneer in virtual reality, a computer science professor, a Disney Imagineer, an innovative teacher, and the co-founder of the best video game school in the world. One year ago he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and after a long and difficult fight he's been given just a few more months to live. This week he gave his powerful, funny, and life-affirming last ...

  • Public Some of you may recognize the morality questions below, if so, keep it to yourself! :)

For the rest of you, ponder these questions for a bit, and then go listen to the podcast I'm linking here. Cheers.

  • Public Moral Quandary 2: Same situation, but there is no lever. You are standing on a footbridge over the tracks next to another man, also watching. You realize that you could save the five men down the track if you gave the man next to you a little shove over the rail into the trains path. Do you push the man next to you?

  • Public Moral Quandary 1: You are standing next to some railroad tracks. To the left is an oncoming train, to the right, 5 men are working the tracks, unaware of the inbound train. They are too far away to hear you and the train is coming fast. But there is a switch where you're standing, pull it and the train will switch tracks, missing the five men, but killing another ...

  • Public We're sitting in IHOP at 2:30 in the morning on our laptops.. and I am scared for my life. Just sayin'.... when the bars let out, this place more closely resembles a cell block in the big house than a pancake restaurant.
