Thinking about asking for an Xbox 360 for Christmas. I'm not a huge gamer by any means but Xbox Live, Guitar Hero, and the ability to stream media to my TV all make it extremely tempting. Any thoughts?

You can ask but I doubt they will find any systems anywhere. We had ours for 2yrs and am waiting for the box from the Xbox people for it to be sent in for repairs. Hopefully by now they have the hardware failure figured out for the ones that are in stores. We used ours alot to watch dvds after the Spring update messed with the streaming of media from the computer. GH3 is awesome though.

Streaming from PC is awesome and they now support Divx and Xvid which make it even better, also you can use it as a media center extender if you have a media center PC which gives you DVR type functionality. Live arcade is cool too cause they have allot of the old school games available for download and stuff. I highly recomend the 360

i'm thinking the same thing for kinda the same reasons...not a huge gamer, but do love first person shooters when I get into them....plus the DVD and streaming stuff, looks fun.

I actually won won when it was released. I wasn't a console gamer, I was a PC gamer, but now I can't live without it. Not only has it taken over my gaming habit, but its become the centerpiece of my home theatre entertainment system. Its the only product that M$ does right, I can't recommend it more.

I got one a few months ago and love it. Guitar Hero is a fantastic game and the Live Arcade is great too.

do it do it! i live off mine. but i would recommend Rock Band over guitar hero III, although i do have both. But rock band has the Police and more songs. But yes, get a 360!

I bought mine just over a month ago and am totally in love! I use the thing all the time! The arcade downloads are great and the new updates that let you play xvid and divx are good. I have my computer hooked up to the tv already, so I don't need that, but it will come in handy if I want to bring it somewhere, I can just load up my USB stick and watch my videos anywhere!

You can't go wrong here. Especially now that MS offers a 3 year warantee! Course, it will be a huge pain if you have to send it in for repairs...

Get one! I used to be a Sony/PS freak 'til I got the Xbox way back when in 2001. Now that I have a 360, it's even worse. Xbox Live just suckers you in... despite my troubles with the hardware, I still can't complain about it. The pros of the console definitely outweighs the cons of it.

Get it so you can add us all to your Xbox Live friends list! :P

I say go for it. I probably spend more time watching streamed media off of it than I do playing games, but that's not to say there aren't tons of good games for it either. It's a good, solid console that's definitely worth your money.

If you want to work with streaming video nothing beats modding an old xbox yourself into an XBMC.

But all in all I would say definitely go for it

If there is any doubt I'll throw my 2 cents in for the Xbox 360 with streaming done with Tversity and good old Rock Band. That combo is divine! I cannot live without my 360. I highly recommend to anyone looking to play the best games and stream all their content to their tv's.
