Does anyone remember "push technology" from the late 90s? That's totally what the Pownce client is. (Or Twitterific, I guess, or anything else that notifies you with updates so you don't have to go look at the website every five minutes.)

    Actually, I just realized I'm off. "Push" was all about it getting to you whether you had something pulling it or not. Emails on your pager and whatnot. You pull RSS feeds, they don't show up suddenly in your face. So by that token, I'm wrong about the Pownce client, et. al.

    But yeah, duh, RSS. Where's my fucking coffee?

    Pull is about user prefs and perms. Push is like, lookout, I'm pushing some shit your way! Duck!
