I can't stand it anymore! I hate Apple's coverflow! The hills in SF trick my iPhone into flipping sideways. Any way I can turn it off?

There's an easy fix. Carry an large, extremely dense mass in your pocket and change the immediate direction of gravitational pull.
You'll probably want to wear a belt though... or they might fall off with the mass of several moons weighing them down.

Not sure if this works as I do not have an iPhone, but I read (from http://tinyurl.com/3ew...

    1. Put it on sleep mode.

    -or-

    2. Uncheck "Display album art" when you're synching with iTunes.

    -or (perhaps the most accurate)-

    3. Play your iPhone or iPod Touch in an anti-gravity chamber.

There might be a fix that a jailbreak app provides, but that obviously requires jailbreaking your iPhone. Otherwise, have you submitted a feedback request for this? Http://apple.com/feedback

p.s. wormholes/time travel really do exist so if you're making a movie about it and going for authenticity hire a screenwriter who can flavor with wondrous brush strokes the piece (while also disallowing the mathematical proofs to fall into militant hands (that would be bad))

There has to be a semaphore in some configuration file. Is yours hacked?

!leahculver what are you doing? cartwheeling down the hills or something? haha

seeing as the thing is set to trigger whenever the iPhone reaches certain X,Y or Z rotation values, I'm going to assume it's all done with plists & Cocoa magic. Unless there's an option that says "I frequently cartwheel down the hills of SF, disable cover flow", then it's going to involve hackery.
I doubt the iPhone SDK would let you get down to that kinda level, although I guess you could write an app that just displays the current artwork & doesn't respond to anything except the home button?
otherwise it's jailbreaking & plist searching..
still log the issue on http://radar.apple.com, seriously... it's a great place to log all the little issues. One of my mates from CocoaHeads lodged the bug that the .mac sync & time machine icons spin in opposite directions haha.

@Aaron: if you have the mass of several moons in your pocket, then yeah belt needed if you don't want the ass of several moons on show for the world to see. haha

Oops, sorry, Leah! Steve doesn't live on the hills of San Francisco, so you'll have to live with it. Maybe if he's using his iPhone at WWDC he'll tell his minions to fix the San Fran bug.

Yeah, they could totally use the map locate function to disable it in SF! Good thinking!

You just need to lean a bit to the left, stick out your tongue, and shake (like a dog that just came out of the water). That should fix things according to the official apple faq.
