That is a great idea. I'm glad they're doing this.

The republicans have stated they will go negative and they will go negative right off the bat. You would think in this day and age that anyone going negative would mean an immediate FAIL, but I have this sick repeating dream that republicans repeating negative falsehoods over and over again makes them "the truth" for enough Americans that they will not vote for obama. I have a fear that they will be able to repeat enough distracting lies about obama that they will swift boat him out of the race. I see several months of 'flag pins' and 'fist bumps' as the core topics of discussions that decide the race, completely blowing out any intelligent discussion of the war and gas prices and the economy and health care.
Am I wrong to be so paranoid here? Can obama win by not going negative? Can his positive, mild mannered, charismatic style have any chance to be heard over a full force shameful, negative, issue-less, buzzword based assault by swift boating republicans? It's really all the have after all.
I just think that both men would want to go as positive as possible, but I have a real feeling that Americans are just going to swallow the shallowest, most moronic, negative, slanderous soundbites that Republicans can throw out there hook line and sinker like the good lemmings many of them tend to be.

Obama's religion was brought up by Clinton surrogates, not Republicans. The Muslim issue was raised by someone in the Clinton camp in a mass email.
The first time most people, including myself, heard about the possibility of a Michelle Obama tape was when Bob Beckel (a Democrat) mentioned it on a cable news show. It could exist, but even if there isn't a tape, there are lots of other things to attack Michelle Obama on. Afterall, she does attack Republicans.
Maybe Obama can add his taking John McCain's "100 years in Iraq" comment out of context to his list of smears.
Having said all that, I do believe the Obama campaign has a good idea with this, McCain should take note.
