I just saved a bunch of money by switching my car insurance NOT to geico... but instead to allstate... lol, I always wanted to say that. I called the local allstate person - whom I have known for most of my life - to get renters insurance - sure enough they convinced me to run a quote for my auto as well - and it is $30/month cheaper... So that more than pays for the renters insurance and a little extra in my pocket.

It pays to shop around lol...

The ex-husband and I had GEICO. They canceled our policy without giving any reason whatsoever. We got State Farm, who couldn't give us any reason why GEICO would drop us. It turned out to be much cheaper too. Thanks GEICO.

I've been using Progressive as my auto insurance for a few years now. When I was up for renewal last month I looked at Allstate, and was shocked that the exact same coverage would have been almost triple what I currently pay.

Glad someone got a good deal from them!

Kenya - Crazy - but i've heard the same thing before about geico.

Bryan - thats nuts. I think a lot of it has to do with where you live and what other things that they can do or can't do for you. Frankly I was shocked that they could get it cheaper than it already was even factoring that the new policy covers my girlfriend.

My girlfriend had her car stolen and was without insurance for about 8 months since she no longer had a car. I went on the Geico website when she got her new car to see how much it would be to add her to my policy, clicked on the (Thinking of making a change to my policy) link and entered in her details, they ended up adding her to my policy without my consent and it made both our rates go up (stupid tickets).

They wouldn't allow me to remove her until we faxed them over her insurance papers from AllState who she ended up going with, but they wouldn't refund the 20 or so bucks that had already been charged to my account for having her on my Geico policy for about a week or two, and now my policy is still $4 higher a month, I know its not much but come on.
