Ahhh, my first bribe on Digg :)

"We have a website we want to get frontpaged on Digg. We have the headline and the description. You have the account. $10,000 bank transfer. $5000 deposit and the rest once it hits front page. Let me know."

I very politely told them to "get lost". Didn't they read the disclaimer on my site before they contacted me?

Whats the page? could be a prank or a test. No front page story is worth that.

I'll says it's nuts. I can be bought for MUCH less than that. ;-)

He didn't supply a page, title or description. The email was sent from a Gmail account (I was going to publish his name in the post but thought it was probably wise not to).

Well $10,000 is nothing when it comes to "advertising" on the front page of a high traffic site like Digg. And essentially they are buying advertising, but getting so much more since a front page positioning on Digg comes with a generally understanding of how it got there by its popularity.

I know it's terrible, but I wish someone offered me $10,000 to post an article to digg. I need money!

Admiral Ackbar would've had a hard time deciding whether or not to accept.

In the end it would've been a flat NO!

For 10,000 dollars I would have bent over, taken it like a bitch, AND gotten a story front paged on Digg... But I desperately need money, lol.

um.. hmm. a friend of mine made $1200 for getting to the bottom of the front page of digg.. can't imagine what the top of front page would do. Well.. actually now I know.. $10k

@Fake Woz - "Front page on digg is worth way more than 10-grand."

That was a joke right? As someone who has a site that has been on the front page of digg more than a dozen times (I hope that doesn't come across as bragging, it's really not meant that way), I wouldn't have paid $100 for any one of them. $10k can buy you a hell of a lot of advertising over time, rather than the thousands of clicks over a day or two that digg generates.
  • Pat B. replied Aug 28th
Holy crap dude, that'd be really really tempting. That's big of you to turn that down.

I got a weird email like that asking me to do a 60 second animation for a product launch of a web start up. Im not an animator but I am an illustrator, so Im not sure if it was spam or what.

Can we officially coin the term "Diggola"?
