As a non-shareholder of Yahoo I am happy Microsoft withdrew. I just hope for Jerry Yang's sake the Yahoo price does not tank too much now.

I am shocked they backed down, I thought they would keep at it, it seemed like a really dumb idea and most of the time stick with the dumb ideas

I fear that unless a megacorp like Newscorp comes along, Yahoo is going to fade into irrelevance. A buyout by Microsoft would have been of benefit to shareholders, and provided expanded content that MS Live and Yahoo will need to compete with the Google monolith. I think Jerry Yang let his ego get in the way of this one, and predict YHOO stock to tank on Monday by 30-50%.

I think Jerry has lost his marbles; Microsoft made an excellent offer!
I can't wait to see what happens to Yahoo! though.... really interesting stuff...
