    Hmm... I hope that changes! I was considering getting one after the SDK. Now I'm not so sure.

    its not too bad...u can only run 1 program at a time as it is..

    i don't have an iphone "yet", but i wonder if this is the same for apps done on jailbreak iphones....

    im not so sure this is right. the iphone currently only supports one app at a time anyways. the only app that can run in the background currently is iPod.

    have you tested this? because most apps currently save their position in the system memory unless you restart the iphone.

    i think the mail app runs in the background, since it can load up mail when not the active up front app. also Safari DOES run in the background, because i have switched between apps and web pages have continued to load and finish loading properly.

    It isn't a bad thing. The programs that we are use to having to run in the background can just have a push type service (i.e. if you receive an incoming IM), and other than that can retain its previous state when you switch apps. There's more than one way to skin a cat. Trust me, they have AOL building a client, it will work and it will work in a different way than we are use to.
