I have an unopened (sealed in the box) Pentium 4 1.6GHz 478-pin processor from 2001 sitting here on my desk. What should I do with it? The best reply decides for me.

I think it needs to come visit me for use in an old PC I'm trying to rebuild for a friend that needs a processor. ;)

why not build a cheap computer and donate to a school or family that cannot afford a computer to help the youngin's in their quest for knowledge? or sell on ebay and donate the profits to a needy family for the upcoming holiday season?

How about a NAS if you have other parts laying around? I put together a beige box for downloading Revision3 shows for me, but my internet service isn't too good so it was clogging the tubes.

Super glue it to the handle on the toilet in your guest bathroom. You'll get a smile every time a guest flushes.

Put it in a time capsule and bury it in a park. Then go back to it in 20 years and laugh at how lame it is compared to the current technology.

    Robert,

As a complete stranger I hope you'll take my suggestion into consideration and do with it, the following: depending on whether or not you own an un-even couch, shim it up with that fine piece of processing history.

    The end.

MythTV box, MAME arcade machine, dedicated internet browsing box for "the kids", file, mail or web server, media server. All sorts of possibilities.

1.6Ghz is no slouch for most day to day apps. Jeffry's idea to build out a box to donate is a great one.

Well, you can help to find the Cancer cure or even help to find Extra-terrestial-Intelligence if you put that processor in a PC connected to Internet, and is better if you don“t use that PC: http://www.volunteerathom...

Remove the pins (dremel tool?) and drill a small hole through it in a corner. Keychain, baby.
