Just made myself a delicious dinner of cappellini, shrimp, scallops, calamari rings, and broccoli florets, with a tomato wine cream sauce and a glass of Spanish Rosé. Because I'm a nerd, I added up the cost--even with the 70% organic ingredients the food came to $3.18 The wine added another buck. Guess it really is cheaper to make your own meals, which I need to start doing a lot more of...

I think its cheaper depending on what you eat. I can consume some expensive ingredients.

It'd be even cheaper if you had a vegetable garden. ;p Cook away, my friend. Cook away!

Actually, the seafood was the most expensive, at $1.36 for amount I ate (which was actually very generous, a restaurant would have used half the amount). Even having my own fish hatchery I don’t think I could beat that. I’ve always been curious about food costs… I think I’ve found my new project for next week :-)
