Why does every single amateur band always feel compelled to cover at least 3 NIrvana songs?

Many of them are of the age that Nirvana inspired them.

We had the same issue with bands trying to sound like the Beatles and The Eagles or Zepplin.

    Its just how it happens.

Deep inside I know you're right... But this just feels wrong.
Plus those kids are 18 or something. They should be covering Arctic Monkeys or something.

    Actually no.

Many times I saw garage bands in the early 80's that should have been playing Rush and 38 Special or Styx, banging out Beatles, Stones and Steppenwolf.

Many whom get into music and PLAY it, not just listen, will go way back for the good stuff.
