There really isn't an equivalent to the archaic creature that is the Windows registry in the Mac OS. What is it you're trying to accomplish? PM me if you'd like and maybe I can help you out.

down with the registry! the weakest part of windows.

Mac OS X's defaults system might be comparable. Note that the defaults system stores its stuff in .plist files in various places such as /Library/Preferences and ~/Library/Preferences. Using Terminal, enter "man defaults" to learn more.

I concur with Cortland... defaults are basically it. There's tons of programs out there that will let you tune/tweak them.

Remember that OS X is built in FreeBSD so it will have a lot more in common with Linux, BSD, and Unix than Windows.

    No registry... What's the problem?

the registry is the worst part of windows, so easy to corrupt. Go OS X and Linux/BSD, config/preference files are the way to go

Ask !garyvaynerchuk to recommend a wine to go with Mac OS X, then sit back and relax. :-D
