Since Pownce's "Private Notes" seem like email or instant messaging to me, there should be some kind of notification that tells me I have a private note that's been left unread....

For now all replies and PM's to myself stay unarchived and in my inbox using gmail, any other notification sent from pownce is auto-archived :)

Alternately I have a label created as Pownce Replys, so those types of notifications are easy to keep up on.

    But yes, good idea. :)

Turn on email notifications, Bacn has its uses.

but I agree, in the friends request area would be a good spot for links to unread PMs.

Yes, there have been times when I have discovered PM's that were more than a day or two old. Once a few pages of comment posts have dropped in front of a PM, there's a strong possibility that you won't see it unless you're looking for it. Paging through posts is essentially an "intervening opportunities" model, in that the further back you page, the more likely you are to find intervening posts that take you to some other post or comment thread.

    Good idea!

p.s. Email notifications deal with this, of course. But having a social media site the relies on email to "plug holes" is an "inelegant" strategy... which doesn't strike me as the way the Pownce designers do things.

That is a really good idea, and while no one has suggested it yet... http://getsatisfaction...
