I've got 0.1 terabytes of photos on an external hard drive...anyone got any ideas on how I might start to sort and tag the decent ones and delete the crud, the quick way?

Eeek. I don't know that there is a quick way. That's a lot of files.

When I'm uploading batches to Flickr, I'll look at 100-200 at a time in preview and write down which are best, and which should be skipped. Then I move them into separate subfolders, upload the regular ones and give the best one's extra attention in photoshop.

    Sounds like a plan...

...the other confounding factor is that a very large number of these images are in RAW format, which means an extra step for preview in most photo library software...

I guess I've just to bite the bullet

    David, you're so intense...

I know when we go camping I'm in tents...but I reckon in the winter I'm more tense than intense...

Just take one small bite at a time!

A friend of mine in back in college had a band called X is tense. They're sound was akin to The Gang of Four.

Good advice...applies to a lot in life beyond sorting photos.

X is Tense sound cool, I always thought the band name XTC was pretty clever and there was a dance troupe I saw many years ago called DV8, but they all pale into insignificance when compared to the comedy sketch (Two Ronnies) that uses abbreviations the whole with through. As in Q: "F U N E M N X?" A: "9!"
