Is this the future? APML: Attention Profiling Mark-up Language.

APML allows users to share their own personal Attention Profile in much the same way that OPML allows the exchange of reading lists between News Readers. The idea is to compress all forms of Attention Data into a portable file format containing a description of ranked user interests.

    APML represents part of a possible future, but it's not _the_ future itself.

    I've written about APML and related topics on several occasions and for me, it's one of the ways — assuming it's adopted on a broader scale — that could help alleviate a lot advertising noise and increase the specificity of just about everything we do on the web...
