I use Adium, and out of the four services I'm logged into (AIM, YIM, MSNIM, Gtalk), YIM is the only one that I receive spam IMs ("spim"s?) from obviously fake accounts (see photo of explicitly blocked accounts). What's up with that Yahoo peeps? Anybody else get YIM spim?

    I get most of my spam from AIM... mainly a stupid bot named Cupid. You should see my conversations with him. I say the meanest things to him, but he is really nice with his replies :)

    I stopped using YIM altogether a year ago... there was only like 1 friend that used it and it wasn't worth it.

    That's weird... I've never gotten IM spam except for maybe a couple of AIM messages.

    I also use Adium and I've gotten the spam bots from AIM once, deleted them and haven't seen them since. Never any issues with YIM, or MSNIM.

    Same here! Out of all my accounts (Gtalk, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, MSN) I only get Yahoo spim. Multiple spim a week.

    I've never received IM spam. I use both Adium and Pidgin.

    Every once in a while I get SPIM on my Yahoo account. Funny thing is it's alway to ID's that are sub ID's to my main one. It's very wierd. Luckly since I never use those ID's I always know it's SPIM.

    yeah, i get about 1 a day. which means i get about 6 every time i log into YIM

    I use Pidgin and I only get spam on ICQ - I have msn/gtalk/aim/yahoo as well. Funny how it's only in the last month or so that I've been getting it.

    I use AIM, YIM, and Gtalk on Adium. I only get spam from YIM.

    Hell yeah. And it's Goddamned annoying as fuck!

    I swore off YIM in December, and life has been pretty peaceful.

    I also get Spim in my Yahoo account using Adium, I just stopped using YIM altogether until Adium adds a "only accept messages from friends" option, I think that's long due.

    I use pigdin with a few accounts since trillian was crashing every computer it was on. Only IM spam I get is from Skype though.
