need something else to follow pownce - pownce AIR app is very limited and still buggy, and the web interface is too bloated and ponderous for this POS laptop, everything locks up periodically and there's nothing I can do about it... Makes powncing a bit of a chore though.

I feel the same way...I'm an XHTML/CSS/JavaScript coder...perhaps a bunch of us Pownce users with the expertise could collaborate on a project?

I notice the same issues... Pownce AIR isn't crashing on me like it is for others, but it's limited. And I find the website really hammers my old laptop at home. I also plan to do something when the API is released.

once an api appears I was hoping to build a twitter/pownce aggregator.

Nice idea Sean M., I would like to be onboard to help with that :). I'm a XHTML/CSS/PHP/JavaScript coder. As far as the issues, I've used the AIR app some and its "okay" but it never crashed on me, however I use the pownce website all the time and its runs fine on my laptop.. hmm...

sean...you could charge for that and make a killing! I'd pay up to $20 for such an app!

I don't find the app bloated, but it does have a tendency to not work as it should. People keep blaming AIR, but the program I use for Twitter, Tweetr, is also an AIR app, and it doesn't have the same issues. Sean: The first person to do that right is going to be a hero to many, especially if you can still have all the Pownce posting options with only certain posts going to Twitter (public posts only, for example).

Come on! Charge for it? This is Web 2.0...You give the service away and wait for Yahoo to buy you out.

@Cody C.: Sounds good...now all we need is an ActionScript/Flex programmer...

I totally agree. On OS X the AIR app, I think, is very poor. I have to 'force quit' whenever I want it shut down and it blinks while fetching new messages. I feel that it's letting Pownce down at the moment. Twitter fits nicely into my life because I very rarely have to visit the site. I use Twitterific which allows me to do everything I need to regarding Twitter. It also automatically appears for 10 seconds (or other user-defined interval) and then vanishes again which means I don't have to take up screen real-estate on another application.

Alternatively, (and I know I keep banging on about this, but) if Pownce can run with access to major IM protocols al la Adium then I, for one, will be a very happy bunny - Twitter for the light hearted stuff (as it was always intended for) and Pownce being the IM on steroids that it wants to be.

I am a designer but would be happy to help out in any way I could with anything regarding the app.
