Public Notes

  • Public Trying out Posty too - looks ok to simultaneous post to twitter, pownce, FF but that's not good either for watching inbound messages

  • Public Trying out hellotxt.com... Pity it doesn't allow you yet to read in one page every update of the friends you have in your social services

  • Public Reading last week's Geeks Guide to Twitter http://en.calameo.com/... - and thinking one has to read at least some of the not well known stuff in his field to provide useful content to the community: everybody reads the mainstream news. And there's only so much you can make out of them.

  • Public Perhaps people like me who are near RSS reader bankruptcy can agree: reading news that are 20 days old helps a lot in deciding what's important.

  • Public Finishing Gilmor's We The Media and it occurred to me that the only way to weaken/cripple p2p is not legislation or monitoring. It's monetising its use - & it will happen sooner or later as it's the most 'natural/free-market' way to resolve issues around it.

  • Public After testing Google Sites for a whole 5' I think it's good but no versioning system and no chance to export what goes in make it unusable.

  • Public Wouldn't it be a great to know exactly who your RSS feed subscribers are? Same as you know who you Twitter followers are. I bet Google not only can do that but also has it in the works using FeedBurner...

  • Public Inflo.us seems like a promising service: combine all your inputs to a single interface and control them from a single website. However, it is hopelessly deprived from services it supports. Check it out again in a couple of months time...

  • Public Excellent post outlining the various types of Twitter use - I think I'm a bit of all 7. It's great the author gives some example Twitterers per category too! (funny posting this in Pownce though:)

  • Public Now that Gmail Labs is up and running can I request a feature from Google developers? Please make my labels auto-sort so that the most recently used appear higher in my label list.

  • Public Twitter, Digg, Facebook, FriendFeed etc are all platforms to bring your social identity on. It could be an idea to focus on only *one* of them in order to create a following, an audience or a social circle. Which of all the platforms you choose should be based on which of their demographics suits your target group best.

  • Public When trying to come up with a name for a website or a web service the little acknowledged fact remains that if a name sounds somewhat like what the product the website is offering, it's actually more helpful for its branding. In other words, names like bebo, meebo, moo and jajah although colorful and even successful don't convey what the website is about compared to e.g. tripit ...

  • Public Microsoft Mesh sounds very ambitious, inspiring - and somewhat unlike MS:) I wonder how permissions will work with it, though. E.g. what happens when 'unifying' my home pc with my work pc which i dont use exclusively?

  • Public Just realised: Twitter succeeded spontaneously where Facebook, LinkedIn etc had to launch/foster/try/etc: it became a platform for others to write apps on... that by itself shows its value
