I wrote earlier about trying Lifestream.fm and it brought up a good question, so here is my QOTD: What do you want in a lifestreaming service like lifestream.fm, socialthing, freindfeed, etc.?

I would like the following:
-nice design, which makes it easy to follow the individual streams
-support of any service I use
-mobile with location tracking
-I like a sidebar like twitkit, but also like a really well done AIR app version to keep me up-to-date like thwirl
-easy add of contacts form the services i already use
-private streams
-ability to leave comments, but also be able to submit an entry directly from that site as well (I know this is not possible for every service, but for some it is, so I will settle for them)

ok, that's good for starters.

I think Socialthing with support for most other services and a sidebar would do me.

    Great pownce jodi :)
_So i'm with you on the Air app - pretty and sleek is required
_and true about submitting directly from a site
_ i think you kinda mentioned this but definitely to be able to 'favorite' post's, and keep a list of 'em
_I kinda want a site like this to display the whole feed when a new comment is added, ala Gmail, so the discussions can go on a for a bit longer
_But to be honest on Pownce the thing i most want is page numbers instead of just 'next/previous' :)

rock on, zoe. you hit on a few that i totally agree with. i have mentioned the being able to favorite a post before. it's one of those things i go on and on about with just about every site. proof that i truly am the social bookmarking queen. also agree with the discussion feed. i know that friendfeed does this nicely.

about pownce adding page numbers, i think that is also a cool idea.

thanks for the well thought out reply.

    :-)

Wow, what a great question...I have only recently begun to experiment with these services...I groove on them, so far, I really like the fact they are not blocked at my work...yet...lol...I would like the same posting functionality that you speak of...it will be interesting to see how they shape up when all of the issues are worked out...I would also like to see more services...

I agree with what you and other have to say. I really like SocialThing because it takes my stream (including my friends) and lists them in one place. I don't want to have to go to several different sites to keep up with everyone. This is the difference between it and LifeStream.fm.

I really like the direction that SocialThing is going. They just need more services. I like FriendFeed as well except that it is another set of friends that I have to manage. FriendFeed's advantage is that I don't have to belong to all the services that my FriendFeed friends belong to in order to see their activity elsewhere. I like being able to see and comment on these activities without the need to have an account on that service.

I also vote for an Adobe Air app. Even though Firefox is getting better, I've dealt with opening too many tabs in FF and letting it eat up my memory.

    Excellent conversation!

SocialThing is winning so far in that you follow friends you already have, but there is something to the multiple services and ability to add new people of FriendFeed. I'd like to mash them together somehow.

I like Lifestream - its easier to configure - and easier to follow - but the friends funda makes it a tad difficult to follow - i mean you would have to integrate backwards your friends - no import function!!

    that would be peachy!!!

friend Feed is pretty cool - :) and SocialThing! dont have that many apps available...

but yes - it is quite nice!!!
