So Japan is a very mobile based society, and with the upcoming (as of yet TBA) iPhone in Asia it's going to be interesting how people start to cope with full web access. It's already available through 3G networks, but WAP pages totally blow. One REALLY interesting tidbit is that despite the fact that there is fibre everywhere here (100Mbps FTTH) a large percentage of people don't have computers at home. They may use one at work, but don't see the need at home. That's what the keitai (cell phone) is for.
